MHRA GMDP Inspections and the WDA Register: How to Verify a UK Wholesaler

Every UK wholesale dealer operates under the oversight of the MHRA's GMDP inspectorate, the unit responsible for Good Manufacturing and Distribution Practice. A Wholesale Dealer Authorisation is only granted after inspection against GDP, and licence holders remain subject to periodic GMDP re-inspection. Inspections examine storage and temperature control, the named Responsible Person, documentation and record keeping, supplier and customer qualification, returns and recall handling, and falsified medicine controls.

Euro Biom holds WDA(H) 59239, and buyers do not need to take that on trust. Every UK wholesale licence appears on the MHRA's public register, and our register entry can be checked directly. The register confirms the licence number, the authorised activities and the named Responsible Person, so verification takes minutes, not days.

When qualifying any UK wholesaler, we suggest requesting four things: a copy of the WDA with its schedule of authorised activities and product categories, the company's GDP compliance position, the Responsible Person's name so it can be matched against the register, and confirmation that the entity quoting you is exactly the entity named on the licence. We supply this pack on request as standard, and our supplier qualification page and verification guide walk through the process step by step.

Environmental & Ethical Responsibility
Our Commitment Beyond
Compliance

Regulatory compliance sets the minimum standard. Euro Biom is committed to operating responsibly across environmental, ethical, and social dimensions of our business. As a small company, our impact is modest in absolute terms, but we believe in building responsible practices from the start rather than retrofitting them later.

We recognise that pharmaceutical supply chains carry environmental costs, particularly in air freight and packaging, and that the communities relying on these medicines deserve supply partners who operate with integrity.

Packaging and Waste Reduction

Right-sized shipping containers and recyclable outer packaging are preferred wherever product integrity permits, as are reusable or recyclable insulation materials for temperature-controlled shipments. We will favour logistics partners who offer take-back schemes for packaging and thermal containers where available.

Logistics Efficiency

We use scheduled air routes through London Heathrow. Where delivery timelines allow, we coordinate multi-product shipments to the same destination rather than dispatching individually, reducing the total number of freight movements.

Ethical Supply Chain

We source exclusively through the UK licensed supply chain. Our supplier qualification process includes verification of regulatory standing, corporate governance, and ethical business practices. We do not engage intermediaries whose provenance we cannot verify, and we publish a Modern Slavery Statement documenting our due diligence efforts.

Continuous Improvement

We aim to review our environmental and ethical practices as part of our quality management cycle. As the business grows, we are committed to formalising our environmental reporting, setting measurable reduction targets for waste and emissions, and working with industry bodies to adopt best practices in sustainable pharmaceutical distribution.
